Our Core Values are not descriptions of the things we pursue; rather, they are values which undergird those pursuits. Though not as central to our identity as the Harbor Piers, our Core Values define who we are and help us choose our steps as a ministry.

Family

We are a church who loves families. We value children, couples, teens, singles…everyone! And whereas we are especially sensitive to the needs of families, ultimately we desire that all who are part of our fellowship experience the familial bond that comes with belonging to CoH. Family as one of our core views means we are dedicated to doing those things that bolster the sense of family in our church.

Creativity

The CoH leadership all have, to one degree or another, a background in the arts. We value creative expression and, as a church, we are committed to ministering to the creative community and to continually pursuing those things which keep our gatherings fresh and aesthetically pleasing.

Excellence

Though we will never achieve perfection in our pursuits, CoH is committed to excellence in all things we do. We value doing fewer things well as opposed to more things poorly. This means we evaluate our ministry, choose those things which are most important, and dedicate ourselves to those wholeheartedly.

Balance

At CoH, we value balance in our ministry. Given our human weakness, we may have the tendency to focus too much on one thing, or to spend all our time and energy on any given thing we perceive as important in a given season. There are absolutes and certain principles to which it’s inappropriate to apply the idea of balance (scripture, for instance, is absolutely true…there’s no compromising here), our valuing balance means we are committed to avoiding the tendency to be unhealthily narrow in focus.
