The CoH team are partnering with the North American Mission Board (NAMB) to plant our church and, as the organization’s name would indicate, we see ourselves as MISSIONARIES. We gave up the security of a more traditional ministry for the sake of pursuing what we believe to be God’s calling. With this in view, missionaries depend highly on the support of PARTNERS to realize their ministries. Why would we call you a “partner”, you may ask. The answer is, in our minds, pretty straightforward. There is a lot that goes into planting a church…much more than the boots-on-the-ground preaching and singing, evangelism and networking. Our partners are as important to making this happen as anyone else, and here are three specific ways you can be a part of this work alongside us.
You can partner with the CoH team by committing to PRAY every day for our church. Prayer is key to the effectiveness and health of any ministry, and we depend heavily on our prayer partners. We will give monthly updates via the CoH Newsletter…victories and challenges, what’s on the horizon, etc. Your offering daily prayers on behalf of our ministry would more to us than we could possibly communicate.
If you will commit to praying for Church of the Harbor, continually ask for God’s favor on our ministry for the sake of the Gospel. Further, we ask that you would make an effort to get to know us. Call, email, write…because there’s a difference in praying for someone you know and love versus someone with which you’re loosely acquainted. We definitely want to know our partners.
We serve many marginalized people, and need partners who will PROVIDE for our ministry. We’d be honored to have you become a Supporting Church. Families can “adopt” us through contributing monthly, or congregations may choose to become Supporting Churches by contributing a specified monthly amount. Whether individuals or churches, your funds can be sent directly to Church of the Harbor (we are incorporated and you will receive full tax credit). One thought…please don’t focus on our need as you consider supporting; focus on OUR VISION. We believe so strongly in this that we’re dedicating our lives to it.
Finally, For the boldest among us, God may be moving to you RELOCATE to Baltimore. We need a solid core group with whatever-it-takes attitudes willing to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty for the sake of reaching the lost. Further, you may have the desire to VISIT us for a short term mission trip. We enjoy building relationships with churches who partner with us for the sake of reaching our community and would love to have you visit one time or more per year. However God may lead you, Baltimore is one of the most highly unchurched cities in America and we need people to come alongside us.
